Honey, Fresh Produce and Soaps, Oh my! Damn Good Honey Farm is a small working farm and weekend Farm Store in Ulster County, NY. First off… How much do you love their name?!?!
It seems the further North you drive from NYC, the more farms and farm stands/farm stores you find.
But how do they differ from one another? Isn’t every tomato grown the same?
I’m here to tell you that they most certainly are not grown the same and every farm is different and special in their own way.
Damn Good Honey Farm epitomizes the meaning of Hudson Valley hospitality and offer their patrons produce and products that are made with love. This combination make this place very special.
Where is Damn Good Honey Farm located?
Damn Good Honey Farm is located in Kerhonksen, NY and is owned by Keith and Jennifer Duarte. The Duarte family takes pride in their farm and produce organic fruits and vegetables AND the best Damn Honey I’ve ever tasted. 😀
They converted me from enjoying my morning tea with store bought honey to now having it with Wild Flower Honey from their farm.
And… I am now a natural soap convert. Jennifer’s Soaps are the best smelling, most luxurious soaps around.
How did I find out about Damn Good Honey Farm?
While attending the Hudson Valley Farm and Flea my wonderful hubby was attracted to their vendors table by the sweet aroma of the wonderful assortments of handmade soaps.
And while standing there trying to choose some for me for a gift, he couldn’t help but call me over so I could sample their honey. He also felt overwhelmed and asked me to pick out my own soaps.. lol Talk about spoiling a surprise…
And that’s when my life changed… FOREVER! I love everything about their honey and soaps. I mean, I’m seriously obsessed with their honey and soaps.
So much so, that I went through major withdrawal when I ran out of both.
I then began following their Instagram Page and was hooked! Let me tell you that the photos of the soaps and their produce will make your mouth water.
Make sure you follow them on Facebook and Instagram so you don’t miss out.
What does the farm offer?
Honey
The name says it all! Their honey is spectacular and very aromatic. It tastes like sweet heaven.
During my visit to the farm, Keith was able to show me one of the hives that they keep on the farm property and also talked about the other hives they currently have in other areas of Ulster County. The hives are not only used for their honey, they also help with the pollination of the fields and areas where they are housed.
In addition, they offer Beekeeping Services, and offer several packages for anyone interested in Beekeeping. Check out their website for up-to-date info and pricing.
Current Packages Offered:
- Beginner Beekeeper Experience
- Bee Cool Bee School
They also assist in installation of hives on your own property and conduct hive inspections to make sure everything is running smoothly.
If I wasn’t so deathly afraid of bees, I would definitely try one of these classes or services out.
Produce from their Farm
Their small but abundant farm property grows organic produce using the best practices around.
From tomatoes to green beans, their produce does not disappoint. During my visit, Keith graciously showed me around the property.
They grow:
- Strawberries
- Zucchinis, Squash & Cucumbers
- Cabbages
- Onions & Garlic
- Kale
- Cauliflower & Brussel Sprouts
- And more…
Surprisingly Keith and Jennifer do not come from a long line of farmers, but you would never know by looking around their farm.
Handmade Soaps and Skin Products
Jennifer is a Soap Genius!!! The variety of handmade soaps she offers is phenomenal!
During our first encounter, the hubby asked me to choose four of my favorite soaps and it was so hard to do. Everything looks and smells wonderful!
Jennifer uses the best ingredients around, including their honey and beeswax. In addition, the soaps are made with organic oils and therapeutic-grade essential oils.
Not only do they smell good enough to eat, but they leave your skin silky smooth.
In addition, Jennifer also has a line of skin care products, such as All Natural Bug Repellant, Lip Balm and Natural Deodorant for sale.
How can you also get their honey, produce and skin care products?
That’s a great question…
