A visit to one of the many Cut your own Christmas Tree farms in the Hudson Valley is a unique way to begin the Holiday Season.
Although my mother extravagantly decorates her home for Christmas, she has always opted for an artificial tree. Even though it’s not a real tree, she has a premium, very full and elaborately decorated Christmas tree.
My father-in-law, on the other hand, had a tradition of going to cut his own Christmas tree at one of the many cut your own Christmas Tree farms in the Hudson Valley.
This is a family tradition for many. And a great one it is.
Before heading out to one of the cut your own Christmas Tree Farms, please keep in mind:
- Some cut your own Christmas tree farms are requiring reservations.
- Many are not allowing dogs on the premises.
- Call ahead, because some of the crops are limited.

- Bring your own saw – chainsaws are not allowed. Many places will lend you a saw if you don’t have one

BJ’s Christmas Tree Farm, Pleasant Valley

Since 1987, BJ’s Christmas Tree Farm has provided wreaths and now wonderful Douglas Fir trees. Although they also plant Concolor Fir and some White Pine. For the 2020 season, all tress are priced at $55. The farm opens November 27th.
